What Is Muay Thai?

Muay Thai is a striking martial art. You learn how to punch, kick, use your knees and elbows, move and defend.

You start with simple techniques and pad work, at your own pace. You don't need to be fit or know how to fight before you start.

Why adults start

Why Adults Start Muay Thai

Most people don't walk in because everything's going well. Something's not working, and they're looking for a change.

  • Same old routine

Same workout, same treadmill, same playlist. You're going through the motions.

  • No direction

You're not struggling, but you're not growing either. No challenge, no progress, just coasting.

  • Running on empty

The stress from work follows you home and nothing in your week actually helps you switch off.

  • Missing your people

Your social life shrunk without you noticing. No group that's yours.

What keeps people here

Benefits of Muay Thai for Adults

Here's what keeps our students coming back week after week.

  • An adult practising a controlled straight punch on a focus mitt

    Never-ending skill

There's always something new to learn. New techniques, new combinations, new problems to figure out.

You'll never get bored because you'll never be done.

    Worth Showing Up For

You'll train with the same people every week. They'll push you, help you and expect you to show up.

It stops being just a session and starts being your team.

    A Workout That Is Fun

You'll be too busy learning and working on combinations to notice how hard you work. Every session is different.

You'll leave tired, sharp and wondering when you can come back.

Worried about Injury?

Any physical activity carries some risk. You start with technique and pad work, at your own pace.

Sparring is optional. The coach controls the pace and matches partners with care.

Before you talk yourself out of it

Worried About Starting?

  • I'm not fit enough

You don't need to be. The fitness comes from the sessions. Just show up.

  • I'll embarrass myself

Nobody's watching you the way you think they are. Everyone's too busy learning themselves.

  • I don't have enough time

Pick a session that fits around work and family. You don't need to train every day.

  • I'm too old

You can start at your own pace. The coach helps you learn each technique step by step.

  • I'll be the worst one there

Everyone started with no skills. You'll learn beside students who remember being new.

  • I don't know anything

We don't expect you to. You'll learn stance, guard and pad work, step by step.

Common questions

How do you stop experienced students from hurting beginners?

We build a strong culture of looking after each other. Experienced students help newer ones learn, just like someone did for them on day one.

Beginners start with technique and pad work. Sparring is optional. If you choose to try it, the coach sets the pace and matches partners carefully.

What's the difference between a good academy and a bad one?

A good academy has clean mats, clear standards and coaches who take an interest in how you're getting on.

On your first visit, look at how the coach helps beginners and how students treat each other. You should feel welcome and know what happens next.

Trust your gut on your first visit.

Is this actually useful in a real-life situation?

Muay Thai teaches you how to manage distance, protect yourself and move under pressure.

The bigger win can show up in everyday life. You have a skill to build, people to train with and a way to switch off after work.

How often do I need to train for it to actually be worth it?

That depends on what you want from it. Some people train once a week and love every minute.

If you want to keep improving, try to train twice a week. That gives you time to practise what you've learned and build on it in the next session.

Pick times you can stick to. The full timetable has midday, evening and weekend options.
